FOUNDATIONS OF SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

In spite of having been practiced in some areas for fifty years, systems engineering is still new and emerging. Even the experts readily admit that they are still learning about the core subject. The Foundations of System Engineering” SIG, program, and web site thread are not just interested in entry level basics of systems engineering—they are about the foundational concepts that theoretically support systems engineering—including both research and practice. This foundational approach is in contrast to more complex roadmaps, standards, methodologies, and tools, that utilize these foundations. From this foundation comes both basic understanding as well as future theoretical structure.
